א וַיַּרְא הָעָם, כִּי-בֹשֵׁשׁ מֹשֶׁה לָרֶדֶת מִן-הָהָר; וַיִּקָּהֵל הָעָם עַל-אַהֲרֹן
The people saw that Moses took a long time to come down from
the mountain. So they gathered around Aaron. They said to him
民はモーセが山を下ることのおそいのを見てアロンのもとに集まって彼に言った

וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֵלָיו קוּם עֲשֵׂה-לָנוּ אֱלֹהִים אֲשֶׁר יֵלְכוּ לְפָנֵינוּ--כִּי-זֶה מֹשֶׁה
"Make us some gods who can lead us."
「さあ、わたしたちに先立って行く神を、わたしたちのために造ってください」。

הָאִישׁ אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלָנוּ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם, לֹא יָדַעְנוּ מֶה-הָיָה לוֹ
"We don’t know what happened to this fellow Moses
,who brought us here from the land of Egypt.”
「わたしたちをエジプトから導きのぼった人、
あのモーセはどうなったのかわからないからです」。

ב וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵהֶם, אַהֲרֹן, פָּרְקוּ נִזְמֵי הַזָּהָב, אֲשֶׁר בְּאָזְנֵי נְשֵׁיכֶם בְּנֵיכֶם
וּבְנֹתֵיכֶם; וְהָבִיאוּ, אֵלָי
וַיִּתְפָּרְקוּ, כָּל-הָעָם, אֶת-נִזְמֵי הַזָּהָב, אֲשֶׁר בְּאָזְנֵיהֶם; וַיָּבִיאוּ, אֶלאַהֲרֹן
So Aaron said, “Take the gold rings from the ears of your wives
and sons and daughters, and bring them to me.”
アロンは彼らに言った、「あなたがたの妻、むすこ、
娘らの金の耳輪をはずしてわたしに持ってきなさい」。

ד וַיִּקַּח מִיָּדָם, וַיָּצַר אֹתוֹ בַּחֶרֶט, וַיַּעֲשֵׂהוּ, עֵגֶל מַסֵּכָה; וַיֹּאמְרוּ--אֵלֶּה
אֱלֹהֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלוּךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
All the people took the gold rings from their ears
and brought them to Aaron.
そこで民は皆その金の耳輪をはずしてアロンのもとに持ってきた。

ד וַיִּקַּח מִיָּדָם, וַיָּצַר אֹתוֹ בַּחֶרֶט, וַיַּעֲשֵׂהוּ, עֵגֶל מַסֵּכָה; וַיֹּאמְרוּ--אֵלֶּה אֱלֹהֶיךָ יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֲשֶׁר הֶעֱלוּךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם
Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed, “O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
アロンがこれを彼らの手から受け取り、工具で型を造り、鋳て子牛としたので、
彼らは言った、「イスラエルよ、これはあなたをエジプトの国から導きのぼった
あなたの神である」。
