確かさを表す副詞はいろいろあるが、
話者の判断として用いる場合と、
その事象に用いる場合とがある。

「彼らはきっと勝つだろう」と言うとき。
１）話し手がそれを確信している場合は、
(be) sure/certain (to) を用いて
They are sure to win. (or It is sure that they'll win.)
となるのににたいして、

２）動作主（上の例文のTheyに相当）がそれを確信している場合は、
be sure of + V-ing.を用いて
John and Joan are sure of or certain or winning.
となる。
