(Right now I'm sick so I am reading novels instead of working/studying ... I also am not using proper Japanese grammar, I think.)

(because this weekend I am sick)
仕事と勉強の代わりに、
(instead of studying and working)
でも、小説を読みます。
(I am reading novels)

病気（びょうき）= ill
仕事（しごと）= job/work
X＋代わり+Y= Instead of X, Y.

    instead of　～ = ～　の代わりに

    I also think that my English grammar isn't perfect so have a lot of mistake.And my vocabulary is weak...
