When it rains, Japanese people use umbrellas, right? But most Americans don't. Even if they buy umbrellas, they leave them at home. We run through the rain! Lol.

Is it a cultural difference?

What about you? Do you use an umbrella?

We want to spend rainy day stylishly and comfortably.
There are many umbrellas with various design in Japan.
And sometime we enjoy choosing a favorite.
I like to use a folding umbrella.

    You are right!
We Japanese are really health consious people, so we put up umbrellas for avoiding any sickness.
I'm now worried about PM2.5, which is coming to Japan from China.
It's said to be in the air, so I don't want to get it through my skin when raining. >_<
Talking about ultraviolet rays, it's said to trigger skin cancer, so I use my parasol anyway in sunny days.
It's really interesting to know that you are almost always have colds and don't care about it much.
It could be a characteristic difference between American and Japanese. ^^

That's why I use my English too~^^ I love making friends all over the world.

I know you posted your message from your phone this time! Lol^^

As I came to think about it, じゃん is like an additional word like ね.
You can say やったじゃん or やるじゃん instead of やったね or やるね.
I think じゃん is used as verbs as well as adjectives.

I can use Japanese without much thought. So it's interesting to think about how my mother language is made!^^

    Ana:

でしょ is the same as でしょう, a bit casual. And じゃん is also used the same way.
Actually, じゃん is a Yokohama direct, which may have been spread to nationwide.
I'm from Yokohama, so I use じゃん a lot! Lol

もん is an additional word to make the word cute.
You can say 「やだもん」 instead of 「やだ」. やだ sounds too straight while やだもん sounds a bit childish.

Oh, yes. Most of the women here use umbrellas when sunny to avoid the rays.
Well, it may be called parasol, and it used to be white. But now it's become very colorful.

Your way of using でしょう is perfect!!! So natural~^^ Amazing! How did you learn it?

Oh, really? To tell the truth, I don't really like this hairdo.Lol I'm not used to seeing me with this one, so I changed to the previous one~^^

Yup! We use umbrellas rain and shine.
When I lived in the U.K., I was surprised to see the British people running in the rain without putting up their umbrellas even they brought them! O.o
As for me, I use it so as not to be exposed to acid rain and ultraviolet rays.
Maybe we are kind of like umbrella addicts. Lol
